MEDIAREX ANNOUNCE NEW FINTECH EPICENTER ON THE ‘BLOCKCHAIN ISLAND’
In Q3 2018, the company will open 1,500 sqm office facilities in a new 24-storey building in Gzira, with breathtaking views of the marina and Malta’s capital city, Valletta, beyond.
The chiliZ Blockchain Campus will house world-leading exchanges, crypto-friendly European banks, leading blockchain media groups, service providers including recruitment services and some of the largest Asian crypto funds in a unique cluster in order to grow the the ecosystem locally and globally. The campus will act as a one-stop-shop, think tank and ICO pitch centre, allowing blockchain companies to focus on innovation and the creation and implementation of mainstream products.
The state-of-the-art space will include an executive floor with meeting rooms and a sky bar reception area, as well as the use of a fully-equipped TV studio with live-streaming facilities.
Malta has been labelled the “Blockchain Island” as a result of the government’s seminal approach in creating a legal framework to regulate this industry, allowing investors and consumers to engage in a safe and legitimate environment. Over the last few months, Malta has been at the forefront of news after working with some of the biggest names in the industry to set their operations on the island, including Binance and OKEx.
Mediarex, who raised investment from some of the largest Asian blockchain companies in the world – including Binance, OK Blockchain Capital, FBG Capital, Ceyuan Ventures and dozens of others – will use the unique Campus concept to promote and expand the chiliZ platform and its distinct aim to tokenize sports and esports teams. The company will also focus on building a commercial gateway between Malta and Asia, in particular China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore.
The Hon. Silvio Schembri, Junior Minister within the office of the Prime Minister said: “It is great to see entrepreneurs investing in Malta’s ecosystem. The chiliZ Blockchain Campus will be a hub of innovative, like-minded organisations that will not only support the Virtual Financial Assets Bill, but will enhance the economic growth and stability of Malta.
chiliZ CEO, Alexandre Dreyfus, said: “I’ve been lucky enough to live in Malta for the last 12 years and I’m happy to be able to participate in the creation of a blockchain cluster, connecting entrepreneurs, law makers, investors, developers and consumers under the same roof.”
